Endearing coffee cups, fighting babies and Raving Rabbids in glorious 3D, Akama’s work could be related to some of Pixar’s best films.
Despite the Japanese sounding name, Akama is French directing duo Alexandre Ada and Cedric Jeanne. After fine arts and graphic design studies, Alexandre and Cédric formed Akama in 2004 and began experimenting with videogame trailers and short films before launching into advertizing.
In 2006, Akama joined Studiowanda and things quickly took off. Their cartoonish humor, enthusiasm and creativity have seduced advertisers like Nescafé, Wilkinson, Kitkat, Lotus, Tiji, etc. Two of their first films – Wilkinson’s Fight For Kisses and Kitkat The Ultimate Break – raked in prizes from Cannes, Epica, Eurobest and many other festivals.
Interested in much more than animation, Akama have also started directing films mixing live action with CGI for VW, SciFi, Audi and Lacoste. Bursting with ideas and always experimenting new techniques, these French directors are full of potential and always up for the next challenge.
