Motion Theory is an American studio created in 2000 by Matthew Cullen and Javier Jimenez. Screenwriters, directors, artists, animators and special effects experts, Motion Theory started with animation, before going on to direct commercials for brands such as Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Samsung, Nike, and the NFL; as well as music videos for Weezer, The Black Eyed Peas, R.E.M, Adele and Katy Perry among others.
Matthew Cullen’s video Pork and Beans for Weezer, won him a Grammy as well as the World Record Buzz for a video, with more than 20 million web viewings. Motion Theory has received over 100 awards in 10 years – among these, D&AD, AICP, and Clio awards. Their videos can even be found in exhibitions at the MOMA in New York.
Motion Theory is one of the most innovative studios in the US, mixing live action, new technologies and CGI, they are now associated to the projects of producer and director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, etc.).
